It seems like it would be simple enough to create sliding rear windows for the new Defender 90, like the old Defender 90. Anyone know if any companies are working on this or is there some obvious limitation that would make this a bad idea?
I’ve been thinking about this as well. Would be nice if the rear main fixed windows (or even just the safari windows) swiveled out an inch or two on the rear edge like an 80s/90s Chrysler minivan.
I had an 86 Pontiac Bonneville as the company car at my first job (yeah, I'm pretty dang ancient!) There wasn't very much to recommend that car except a) it was flawlessly reliable for 100,000 miles, and b) the rear vent windows were electric and pivoted on a pair of center pins at top and bottom. So you had 6 window buttons in the armrest -- the last two pivoted those vent windows as little or as much as you wanted. A great way to ventilate the car without making a big roar from putting the full-size windows down.
Mine was royal blue with royal blue velour interior, baby. And when I say blue interior, I mean that every single square centimeter of surface area of the interior was blue. Carpets, headliner, seats, seatbacks, seatbelts, steering wheel, entire dashboard. It's like they assembled the car and the last thing they did on the line was open all 4 doors and have guys in hazmat suits holding paint guns spray royal blue paint over the entire insides.
I had three Bonnevilles in a row, all different generations. The next one (1989) looked quite a bit different than the 86!
