Guys, there are numerous stereo upgrade threads I could resurrect, but I need one specific number I have not seen:

How deep is the door opening up front for the speakers? I am looking at various new Focal and similar speakers, but you know something like the GaleForce won't fit, they are 4" / 100mm deep. SlateForce models, maybe? They are roughly 3.5" or. 88mm.

Those.with a good pair of Focal 100mm / 4in speakers should work well, even if I need to replace the amp (all of these are 4ohm speakers) with, say 1000 RMS 4ohm?

I am (was?) a singer, as were both parents. The Meridian speakers are all right, but lacking in depth and soundstage. All of these speakers have a (super) tweeter at 1" / 25mm surface mount. I have three speakers in each front door, two each in rear. It's a D90S MY23.5

We're already in the $200-$250 range per speaker, but you can spend $1k on good Focal car speakers.

 

Hmmm... Crickets? I assume it's at least 3" or the Focal K2 nor KX2 will fit. They's some pricey speakers! Over $800 per pair, up to $1150 for KX2 models.

Both sets come with surface mount tweeters.

With Neodymium "motors" as they say, the magnets or either 8 or 10 pounds.

This is pretty much what they sell in 2 ohm spec. I looked at SlateForce 165 but those are only available as 4 ohm. $500

 

I have these, love them. But first start with sound deadening of the doors.
