I was looking at the rear ladder but spent a week skiing every day using my buddy's side ladder with his ski box. Definitely much easier to get to the roof from the side for things like surfboards, ski boxes, maxtrax, etc.

What I'm trying to figure out now is if a bracket can be made so that you can use the LR ladder with a FR rack that is full-length and mounted without rails...

I'm still a Lucky8/Rhino ladder fan, but I have to admit the lunchbox is growing on me. I thought the same "mall ninja crap" when I first saw it. Now that we are closing in on the fourth year, I may change the tune. If I do, I'll get the PowerfulUk adapter to the molle plates I have as I take those off when not needed. Who knows. Likely just keep thinking about it for many more months.

im in the same boat. My local overlanding installer said he could make it happen, likely fabricate a piece of aluminum or steel and powder coat. Mount from the FR rack similar to the FR ladder. Which uses the same side mounts as the LR version.

let me know if you come up with anything please!

In emergencies; perhaps The Gap is having an impromptu sale or Starblocks is suspected to launch a new pumpkin spice variant, you can clamber straight up through the sunroof to gain a better vantage point.

Will do! I have a good mechanical engineering friend who said he would help me. I'm just torn on if I want to spend the $700 to buy the ladder to test with.

If you have a ladder already and your shop is up for it I'm happy to split R&D cost! If not ill let you know when I make progress. Going to talk to my dealer and see if they would let me borrow one .
