Stranded on the side of the Interstate
I write this while waiting for a tow truck with the whole family on the side of the Interstate. Currently on a road trip in which we have covered 1,500 miles with no issue on the D90 (had a low coolant warning that was quickly resolved by a local LR dealer). Coming downhill on the highway at about 70 MPH all of a sudden felt a bump as if the car had gone off gear. Quickly navigated to the shoulder of the road and stopped and the car shut off. Would not start after that. It started once but running a super rough idle and unwilling to go above 1500 RPM only to die again and never start.
LR assistance having a hard time finding a tow truck provider (we are 20 mins Of the closest Lr dealer which is LR Birmingham in AL). We are at 47 minutes wait and counting.
Any ideas of what the issue could be?

Appreciate the good wishes!
Another question while I keep waiting for LR Assistance to find a tow truck. If the car won’t start, how do I get it to neutral? Last thing I want is for the transmission to be destroyed when getting it on the flatbed.
Sorry to hear! The official procedure to get it in neutral is posted here somewhere, but basically open the hood, remove the sound insulation cover from the top of the engine by pulling straight up, and you should see some sort of small lever with a cable attached to it. Pull that and it should do the trick…
Sorry to hear. I want to say when you push the start button without pressing the brake the 'shifter' should be live and allow neutral. I hope I'm not giving you bad info. As for the stall, do you have a check engine light displayed? If the CEL was on it should've logged a code. Unfortunately I've had a stall issue that doesn't log a code. There may be an issue intermittently with these fuel pumps is my guess. With mine it has always occurred at a very light throttle situation which typically is just in a parking lot though I did have it happen once at about 30-35mph, that was the only time the CEL stayed lit for about 30 minutes and logged a code. They updated a module but I still have the issue intermittently, mine bucks and acts like it's out of fuel when it happens. Will not restart until I shut it down, get out, get back in and then it starts. like rebooting a PC. Sounds like yours could be a more serious issue though. Good luck at the dealer with service.

Hope you got to safety and get the rig fixed quickly.
Man, sorry to hear that. Hope you’re tucked away in your fancy hotel by now (it’s 11pm Friday).
And coincidentally, I passed through Birmingham on I-22 to I-55 to I-20 yesterday on my way home to Atlanta from Colorado (3500-mile round trip). I bet you anything I used up all the local Land-Rover-Road-Trip-Mojo and it hasn’t replenished yet. I’d have sure warned you to take another route if I’d known you were coming through hot on my heels.
Where are you coming from and headed to ultimately?

Well ultimately it was 5:15 hrs from call to LR assistance to drop off at the local dealer. Will save my comments on LR Assistance experience for separate post. At the dealer waiting for the wife to pick me up on a rental. Will be back here tomorrow at 9 to talk to service and see what’s next.
@NoGaBiker trip was MIA-Huntsville to drop my daughter at camp and then a week driving around (Chattanooga, Atlanta, Talladega, Birmingham and back to Huntsville including some light trailing in the Talladega National Forest). We were now headed back to Miami the long way (Mobile or Pensacola tonight and then bordering the Gulf Coast).
Over and out for today.
