We have crossbars and a Thule roof box. That spare tire takes up almost the entire roof if we were to switch to a roof rack. I’d like to leave the spare tire on the back. Surely there’s some sort of modifications we can do to the trailer tongue.

Modifying the trailer tongue is the gold-standard fix. Although extending the vehicle hitch may seem just fine, there must be some reasons that JLR do not want you to do this. Probably something to do with emergency maneuvering dynamics. Certainly something to do with the tow assist trailer backup feature. If you use a 14" long shank, you should also probably half your maximum tongue weight as the twisting action on your rear cross member is going to be amplified. Look at what you're connecting to - do you really want to add a 14" lever arm to this?
For the Bascamp, all I can suggest (short of getting out your welding gun) is swapping out the front jack for a removable one and if that doesn't give you enough room, modify that humongous propane tank holder for a smaller one.
I tow this Ibex 23RLDS with a max weight of 7800 pounds and I don’t use a WDH or sway bars just the red arc brake controller. I have had no problems at all.

We have a 21’ Grand Design that we pull with our P400. We removed our front jack and added a side mount jack. The rear door opens enough to grab the dogs, with the spare tire mounted.
Don’t have a picture of the new jack and the trailer is parked for the winter.
I’ve got the Lock N Roll on my Taxa. Can’t beat it for articulation and connection security, but it is a bit more finicky to hook up. I took to always carrying a mallet with me, it can require a bit of persuasion on occasion.
