Toyota's Legendary Reliability At Risk As Dealers Refuse Trade-Ins On V6 Tundra
#11
So, it’s not 280k units. It’s about 105k. Toyota hasn’t announced a remedy and has until the end of the month.
they claim its manufacturing debris in the recall notice. No way to know if that’s true but I bet Toyota would rather that be the story instead of a design issue.
I owned a 23 tundra. Powerful and overall nice. Not the material quality of my xd, but nice.
they have been rebuilding failed engines with a new short block. There’s hope the recall will be a longblock, but that’s anyone’s guess.
im not down on big T over this, I just bought a Tacoma.

True, I have a knack to induce things to fail around me. I was legendary at NAS North Island: over 100 field arrestments. A record that still stands today. That is only the ones I had to snag a wire to stop. Literally about a hundred more with a short meeting for coffee with the crash crew. Who gave me a chrome plated tail hook for my getting out of the Navy present. Now to be fair, military airplanes are utter crap. Test flying them is beyond stupid and killed one out of 5 of us, so let's discount that. In the civil world I have only had a few do moody airplane antics. The most recent, a Caravan that had a fresh engine have the gearbox fail above Gallup NM. You know, Coyote and Road Runner country. I barely made the airstrip, running out of energy about 100 meters before the runway and hitting the dirt and rolling onto the runway. It was so comforting to have Mac (Head of TurboPower) tell me that, "Gee, I have only heard of that ever happening once!" Lucky, lucky, me.
On the plus side, if your on an airliner with me and the pilots ate "The Fish" guess who could land it and walk away. Honestly the best car I ever had in Africa was my "War Corolla." That car was of no interest to carjackers, went virtually anywhere. seemed to not mind bullet holes. It also seemed to be invisible to all the folks having their revolution festivities and allowed me to get all the UN personnel and evacuate them. It is only when I got to the airport and loaded up that they took an interest in me and started shooting at me with that cute little gun on the APC as I rolled down the runway.
I do fix big problems, like evacuating a spinal injury at AfrikaBurn, in the Tankwa South Africa, this year. Notice my cool safety socks. You just have to keep looking up and make sure a house does not fall on you..

@Dogpilot - I will NEVER get into a vehicle with you!! Can you tell me your travel plans? I want to make sure I take a different airline<g>. You have a "Midas" touch that is epic!!
Not always a bad thing. Goes along with my life principle: Kick things till they break. Fix them. Keep kicking them until they stop breaking.
