Im interested to know more about how you were able to switch modes. Working on a 22 Defender, OEM TPMS sensors, and same issue. I lose them once per drive cycle.

Problem has been fixed. I borrow my friends equipment and found the shop installed the TPMS sensors pointed towards the barrel of the rim. After flipping them my car immediately picked them up. Becareful with who does work on your vehicles.
