I'd love to use that on the 110. I was researching how/where to find constant power on our 110s, found this thread with what appears to be a pretty simple fix to bypass the relay tied to the 12V cigarette lighter port, thereby making it unswitched. Curious if anyone has done this: https://landroverforums.com/forum/20...-trunk-102214/
I checked out the link and this seems to be a workaround for providing constant power to the 12V socket in the cargo area, and will allow you to use your cigarette lighter adapter for charging. The suggestion to add a fuse inline is good advice. A simple pinched wire or short can easily cause some damage or even a fire without circuit overload protection. There are plenty of unswitched feeds in that fuse panel, that’s why I’m thinking of tapping one to connect a magnetic charger connector to the rear panel of the Defender for a quick and easy connection for my CTEK. When I added a rear dashcam to the window of the cargo door, and the park-protect harness needed a constant 12V and a switched 12V, I fished the wire through the rubber boot between the door and the vehicle and ran the wire into the rear fuse panel.

No problem at all. The water that gets to this area doesn’t accumulate. And, the Noco connector has a cap that I make sure I snap on when it’s not connected and I believe it is water ‘’proofed’’ when connected.

My P300 doesn’t have any fuses in this location and I think you’re right to use a fuse to be safe. I found the ones below on Amazon which look like what you used. Would they work for my car? I don’t know if it’s any different on my non-hybrid.

That fuse will not provide protection to the trickle charger as it is rated at 450 amps, (not discounting the fact that it is rated for 32V, not 12V). He tapped that fuse for power but the trickle charger wiring has an inline fuse that is rated to protect the small gauge wiring harness to the charger.

That empty fuse holder can just be tapped on the ‘hot’ side with the eyelets from the wiring provided with the trickle charger, as there is an inline fuse, circled above.

Thanks @WTFChuck this is what I had assumed all around but for some reason I was worried I didn’t get something about the power system on the car.

Sorry of this question has been asked before, but there are a lot of charger options out there from CTEK, which one is best for our Defenders? I would like one that can support the battery while using the GAP IIDTool as well as keep the battery topped off. Thanks!

This CTEK is what most of us I believe are using:
CTEK - 40-206 MXS 5.0 Fully Automatic 4.3 amp Battery Charger and Maintainer 12V CTEK - 40-206 MXS 5.0 Fully Automatic 4.3 amp Battery Charger and Maintainer 12V
