For those that don't daily their defender, is anyone using a trickle charger? With as high tech as these trucks are I wanted to see if there was any issue with connecting one to the battery, such as a NoCo brand.
They have a neat quick disconnect adaptor also (image below) so the battery can have a hardwire type connection when wanted. I don't imagine this should effect the warranty or other computer issues??

Keeping a battery fully charged only helps computer issues. They all seem to appear when the battery starts to drain. Ferrari supplies trickle chargers with its cars, Porsches with lithium batteries need them, and I installed a quick connect adaptor on my AMG SL55 to forestall problems. I have no idea, however, how long a Defender (mine is only on order at this point) would have to sit undriven before battery drainage becomes an issue.
I use a trickle charger whenever the Defender is going to sit for a week or longer. I just connect the alligator clips to the terminals under the hood. It looks like your quick disconnect product should connect directly to those terminals without any issues.
My thinking is to have the terminal connections directly on the battery under the seat. On other brands, this has not been an issue.
I agree with you.
On my 911 with a lithium battery, I hooked up the terminal connections on my lithium CTEK charger as shown in the manual (positive to the battery and negative to the chassis) and the following morning my car was completely dead. Hooked both directly to the battery and it worked beautifully after that. On my SL55, following the manual's instructions led to battery critically low warnings; hooking an MB branded unit directly to the battery has worked perfectly.
I’ve found my ‘22 model battery drains super fast and often get the low battery warning after 2-3 days of non-use. Super annoying and I’m guessing not normal (I’ll have the dealer check it out next time there).
Agree with @dj200 . That's the place I use. I love the idea of something permanent because I have to periodically top mine off. It's a pita, but likely a result of lack of driving and the battery tech. I have a CTEK that I like / works for me (
It has a quick disconnect in-line so the pigtail can stay connected to the battery terminals. Super easy to disconnect or reconnect and it has a sealed cap. Considering the location of the battery, Im glad this exists.
