Default U0064 Engine code - Vehicle Comm Bus E

Hi, new to this forum, so hoping someone can help. I’ve got a 2020 Defender First Edition with about 30,000 miles, mostly trouble free. We’re on a ski trip going from home base which is LA to Tahoe, then to Idaho which is where we’re at now, then off to Montana, Utah and then back home. As luck would have it, got a CEL (solid orange) with an error code of U0064, Vehicle Communication Bus E, which when checking with service seems to be related to an emissions issue. There is 1 Land Rover dealer in Boise but when calling them and explaining my situation they told me they were too busy to look at the vehicle. I was thinking of going there anyway but it’s about 4 hours from my location and if they can’t do anything it’s a waste of time. So my question to you experienced folks here;

1. Is it safe to drive and continue the trip to Montana or will I get the dreaded flashing red engine light and go limp or die half way to Montana, which as you would guess is a bit lacking is service options.
2. Is there a way to reset the code, which unfortunately cant be done with an ODB2. I tried disconnecting the positive lead from the battery but that didn’t seem to help. In past cars disconnecting the battery does a hard reset but in this case did nothing. I.e. my radio presets were still there.

so any help would be appreciated. I’m hoping it’s just a nuisance alarm and we can continue our journey, but don’t want to get stuck with limited options

thanks!

It looks like there are several variants of U0064.

Idk if this will help much bcs it looks like you're not going to have the right diagnostic equipment but the workshop manual has some information. Search "U0064".

Did you use regular fuel. Maybe try some additives like seafoam for emergencies?

I would continue on but that’s just me. Take it in for service when you get home. If it quits on you call roadside and tell them to bring you something that you can live with to finish your vacation.

I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes to see if it goes away. The emission cel that shows up can be anything. My car displayed a similar code when it could not get out of park. Possibly a result of the most recent update your truck received. keep driving it.

I add my vote to what appears to be the consensus: Drive it. I wouldn't go 4+4 to have the Dealer who already refused look at it. I'd keep moving. Worst case, there's going to be a local u-haul where you can just get a flatbed trailer & van/truck to tow it home. VERY likely cheaper than going to the ID dealer. I'd spin the Wheel of Life and see where it lands. Wouldn't be the first time renting a UHaul and really not that big of a PITA. Practically better than calling a tow.
