I just got the Defender and haven't tried to update maps yet. I had a 2020 RRS prior and I would get a notification telling me to update the map, then I'd go to here.landrover.com to download the new map then put the USB stick into the car. I've read that it's the same process, except that you have to go to the Pivi Pro site now. I've heard that we don't ger map update notifications, though. If that's true, how do we know when to update? Thanks

 

The update process the same (www.landrover.com/pivimap).

If you go to the navigation menu, one of the "about" options will tell you if there's a map update available for your vehicle.

edit: Apps > Navigation > About > Map Information

the maps update more often than you might think. If you update your maps, it will tell you your map data is current but it won't be long before you see that an update is available,

 

If it's a 2023 it probably doesn't really need the update... just sayin
