I shot a video short of my Defenders exhaust sound in dynamic mode with exhaust valves programmed to stay open in dynamic mode via the use of my GAP tool.

Did the soft button appear after using the Gap tool? Just got my v8 defender and ordered a GAP so I’m excited to get in there and try it once the tool arrives from Lucky8. Thanks!

MultiCAN-528 ActiveExhaust

Changed to "Active Exhaust Actuator fitted & button fitted"

I am not looking through the dynamic pages to see if the soft button is now appearing. Regardless... I now have full time open exhaust valve.

Thank you for the write-up. Very helpful.

I need help with the connector for the modulator -

I cannot figure out how to disconnect the two parts.
I think I need to pull out the red part (see pic) before I can retract the male side, but it will not budge.
I dont want to break this connector. If anyone has any tips for me, I would appreciate it very much.

Use a pick or small screwdriver. Retract the red tab and then use the pick to release the latching tab as well.

Thank you for your help. I was able to get it done, and it sounds really nice now.

I’m trying to go the same way with my Defender 110 V8 Carpathian. I have the Milltek exhaust installed and now looking at the Milltek Active Valve Controller for more valve control, especially noise regulation on cold start. Struggling in the absence of instructions/guide from Milltek.

I tried installing it today, but could not get the valves to actuate. I confirmed that the module has power (inside the box there was a blue LED) and that the fob key presses were being transmitted (blue LED flashes).

@Ehloo can you help with the following Q’s:
1) Which model did you go with for a U.S. Land Rover Defender? I had narrowed this down to SSXLR160.
2) After you plugged in the module, did you need to do anything to get the valves to actuate?
3) Does the controller need the vehicle to be running or just powered on?
4) There is mention of Bluetooth compatibility for a Milltek app. Any luck with using the app in addition to the key fob?

i have a miltek exhaust which uses OEM valves and the module works on oem v8 exhaust.

a little pricey but they have a 10% discount right now. it was around 350 shipped to me.

install was pretty straight forward although it didn’t come with any instructions. plugs into your oem connect and bypasses with another plug. does not need separate power source which is pretty cool.

has three modes, open, closed and stock so you can retain the stock function.

the module is not water proof so you will need to wire it into the trunk. there is a rubber grommet in the trunk area, small cut and slip the wires down, bunch of zip ties and your good.

prob not a mod for the true off roaders wadding in a couple fit of water but sure you could seal the grommet cut.

I just tried unplugging the connector to the valves just to see what it sounds like, and I think I may be the only one on here that doesn’t like it lol. The slight drone at low RPMs makes my girlfriend and I feel nauseous!

Do these various exhaust valve controllers open the valves more than the valves open themselves when they are simply unplugged? I realize with the controllers you get the options of open, closed, and OE functions depending on modes by pressing a button, but is open with the controller and open by unplugging the valves the same "open" %?

Do you have the install instructions for this, any issues thus far?

There isn’t much info online about this and I’d like to know more about it from someone who actually has it installed.

Thanks
