Default V8 Stop Sale?

I was all ready to trade in my 90 X for a 24 110 V8 and the dealer said they just got a "Stop Sale" on all V8 Defenders. They say it is emissions related - like their claims for emissions aren't what the vehicle is actually producing. Seems kinda late for that to be figured out.

I cannot find any mention of this "recall" anywhere via Google, YouTube, etc.

Does anyone have any info on this? The dealer says they're told it will be addressed with a software update and "shouldn't take long" but I don't see how that could be the case. I fear 1) that it will take forever due to government involvement and/or 2) that it will alter the performance - like detune the engine as it is in the P500.

I have a deposit down and am just in a waiting hold at this point. Appreciate any info anyone may have.

Thanks.

I read in the past week Jaguar installed the last V8 (basically the same engine) on the production line. Jag is going anll electric. Other tidbit, the new BWM twin turbo was being used because the V8 no longer met EU Regs. Who knows?

Okay, that makes some sense as one of the questions I asked the sales guy was how in the world did this get by the EU - I would expect their standards to be much more stringent than the US.

My car is manufactured and on the lot ready for delivery. They just aren't allowed to sell it.

In have the same situation. Order my CE back in February and was delivered to dealer last week. Was working on delivery which is now stopped. Not sure what to do??? I’ll wait a bit but considering ordering a Porsche Cayenne S with air suspension as replacement.

I would be patient until the fix is done. Dealers do not like "stop sale" and the manufacturer does not do it unless they have a god reason to do so. If it is emission issues. all car manufacturers are playing it extra safe after the diesel gate saga. These cars will be ok and the stop sale lifted. I have a 22 V8 CE and you will love it once you get yours. Congrats.

We have an order in for a 25 V8, I asked the GM at our local JLR dealership what is going on? Here's his reply.
Yes, it is true for 2024 Defender V8, not for 25 model year because they don't exist yet. It's just a software update for emissions, it's technically not out yet, so JLR doesn't want any cars being sold without the update being installed. This happens periodically throughout the year on various models.
Bottom line I'm not concerned, hopefully get our 25 V8 in Oct-Dec.

Hi, I picked up my CE 110 last month and haven't received any communication about a recall or software update. It's an exceptional vehicle, and I'm glad I waited for it to deliver. There's no way I'd trade the Defender for a Cayenne S. We also have a 22 Macan GTS, and it's a pretty cool vehicle in its own way.

I agree. I had a cayenne GTS and have a Panamera ST turbo which I am keeping. The Cayenne was great on the road but lacks the chomps of the defender. But the Panny Turbo is in a world of its on on the highway and TS can carry 2 large dogs in the back

I have a '23 Macan S with every performance option in addition to my '21 Defender 110. The Macan is as close to a sports car as you can get in an SUV. Fun to have two opposite ends of the SUV spectrum in the garage.
