V8 Stop Sale?
New member here with 2024 P500 SE
Thought I'd chime in as I did some digging.
Thew were two bulletins published last week, one affecting all 2024 V8s and the other the 3.0 petrol and diesel I6
On June 10th - N907 UPS2824-1 - Failure to comply with Emissions
-this affects the V8 only, and states
"Testing of V8 S/C 5.0L Gasoline Defender vehicles has revealed an inability to meet the noxious gas pollutant levels for every grade of fuel during a certification test drive cycle. As a result, vehicles of this specification do not comply with the certified state and may not be sold or imported into USA, Canada and Mexico until they are capable of meeting the legal limits and as certified state."
On June the 14 they released the following notification of a recall, the 3.0l Ingenium petrol and diesel only, in all 2024-25 JLR vehicles that use that engine
Global Recall Action
Number: N908
"A concern has been identified where the incorrect specification of plastic was used to manufacture the oil filter housing. The incorrect specification plastic housing will, over time and with vehicle use, crack allowing oil to leak out onto the engine and into the engine compartment. An oil leak under pressure in this area could result in oil coming into contact with hot components on the engine which may result in a fire. Additionally, oil may leak onto the road surface posing a skid hazard to other road users especially two wheeled vehicles, and increase the risk of a crash."
And
"JLR retailers/authorized repairers are reminded that they must not sell vehicles identified as affected by this campaign until such time as the repair has been successfully completed."
Which basically amounts also to a stop sale until the vehicles are repaired. This does NOT apply to the V8 at this time, at least from what has been published so far.
If P400's are being actively sold, then I assume dealers have the parts and are doing the work before the vehicle is released. As this is now a recall, it will be published on the NHTSA website and owners will be notified.
There was a note about "this campaign supersedes Update Prior to Sale (UPS) notice UPSUPS2924-1 with immediate effect."
So it looks like they have already been doing this for a while on the quiet and have now decided its a safety issue and a recall is justified.

What a bummer.
Are the '25s not using the new BMW twin turbo engine?
Was at the JLR dealer today and about to place my order, the Sales Manager informed that the software patch was just released for the 130 and it shouldn't be long till it hits the 110, hope this is useful info
I told them I'd place the order once the patch is available

The new Range Rovers with the V8 motor are using the BMW engine. I think that the new Octa Defender is also using the BMW engine, but the other V8 Defenders use the 5.0 V8 engine that has been used on many other LR platforms.
