Default What is this blue wire?

Hello Defender guys.

I found a curious wire on my defender. This blue wire is attached on right side(driver's side) only. No wires jut like this on the left side and both of rear side.

Can you guys tell me what this wire is for?

Also, I am nervous. This wire is attached on the brake without any protection. It can be damaged by things on roads during driving. Is it OK this wire is attached just like this without any protection?

Thank you for your reading and waiting for wisdom words.

I'd guess that it's the brake pad wear sensor. Depending on year/model/country, JLR adds a lot of BS that is hard to find in the usual sources. From what I've seen getting ready to do a caliper swap is that it just senses the condition of your brake pads. Very likely came out of a clip somewhere. It's on all four wheels, so dig into the other side and see which clip is missing, broken, etc. Or, take it to your dealer. Personally, it's not worth the logistics, headache and B.S. to do that, but YMMV.
