Hauled home a free load of firewood after a pretty amazing day, playing in the mountains.

installed the Frontrunner OEM fit roof rack. It was a bit of an adventure doing the install alone. I had to install a pulley system to hoist the assembled rack in the garage so I could get under it with the truck.

I like how it came out. I do agree it sits a little high. I think it's a combination of using the OEM roof rails and clearing the sunroof. There are nylon spacers that I think if I could have them made a bit thinner I could accomplish the same but with closer tolerances. See pics. I had to unbolt the top mounts of the ladder to install one of the rear mounting plates. Not a big deal.

This is with the sunroof open fully

The nylon spacer blocks - thinner would make the rack sit lower

Shark fin clearance. I think the rack can be moved forward some

I got tired of seeing so many Defenders on the road with black wheels I decided to be different [my black wheels and tires are in the garage] so I traded my original 22's for a set of 20's and mounted another
set of BFG 305/50/20 All Terrain ko2

Finally ditched my OEM Pirelli all season tires and put on five Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT tires in 275/55/20 size. XL load rating.

Ok, not much off-roading was involved, but it was an enjoyable journey. Nothing says Texas like a road trip to pick up some great BBQ! Apologies for the crap pic with the Defender, but I was still uber focused on the food. Brisket, jalapeno cheddar sausage and Luckenbach Lollipops (ok, quail, but that sounded better on the menu).

Hard to focus on both....

Brisket & sausage: Texas classics.

Luckenbach Lollipops (aka, quail)

Dynamic mode operational. Haven't played with it yet but cool to see the dash go red
