Exclamation What's rear engine plug leak, should I be concerned?

Went to a shop to have my transfer case fluid replaced after driving my defender for 65,000 miles. They told me the found a small leak from the rear engine plug and recommend me to replace it. I'm wondering what is this plug, anyone else has similar leak? Thanks!

I'd get it replaced. I don't have any details on the plug or what the part # is. I'm assuming its the same issue myself and others have reported. I saw oil droplets on the back of the engine and on the skid plate when doing an oil change. I had recently had a transmission fluid flush/change, so I brought it back to the shop. They new exactly what it was after they removed the skid plate. So I assume it is fairly common.

Are you referring to the rear main seal (which seals the crankshaft at the back of the engine)? It'll leak slowly but won't be catastrophic. Eventually, the whole underside of your car will be covered in oil and grime. It is a bigger job as your transmission needs to be removed to service the part.

But with the entire underside covered in oil it will be just like the old Defender.

We only need to locate the plug... To help in the future each other.
Not a main seal from what I've heard.

It might be the Oil Blanking plug, I had the same issue that was identified at my 100k service (very slow and minor leak). Cheap part and quick to replace.
