Default Windshield Question

Folks,

I have an odd question about the windshield on my 2020 110S. When driving in sunlight, at certain angles I can clearly see a 2-inch long vertical line embedded in the glass. It's faint but noticeable and I'cve observed it for some time. The windshield has no cracks, dings etc and the area where I see that is smooth inside and outside. Is this the sign of a defect? I've read about people's problems with cracks etc but this one is odd and a first for me.

Thanks.

If you have the heated windshield, you will have LOTS of those. If not, it may be an embedded antenna for the radio.

Thanks for the reply, my car does have the Cold Climate Pack with the Heated Windscreen. My previous LR products did, as well, so this "scratch" (for lack of a better word) jumped out at me.

And many apologies for the error in the original post, the "scratch" is horizontal (right to left), not vertical (I got the two mixed up), thus the oddity if that changes anything.

in winter, you'll love the heated windshield. it's not magic, but it does get things going quicker than just the air. in a few weeks or a month, you won't even notice the metal wires in the glass. nb - if you break your windshield, be sure to ask for JLR glass that has the heat element. otherwise, glass companies have tried (in my case) to install non-jlr windows without the heat element. no extra charges in my case, just had to ask for it.

I have the heated windshield and the faint / thin horizontal and [edit] vertical lines are slightly visible in certain lighting conditions. They virtually disappeared once I got used to the condition. The heated windshield has been very handy on occasion; my biggest gripe being Land Rover DISABLES the ability to ENABLE the heated windshield with REMOTE state which is the very time I seem to want it most.

[ Edit: removed reference to horizontal lines - as pointed out by nashvegas below and as noted in my reply below - heated windshield Lines are only running vertical as confirmed in reviewing my photos ]

Yes, that is correct and there are many such vertical lines in a heated windshield.

Where is this line? I don't see any horizontal heating lines in the viewing area of my heated windshield. Only vertical. (maybe snap a pic and draw a line where it is?)

I had a car once that someone scratched w/ a diamond ring on a rear window I think when cleaning it. Maybe it's just that?

I've edited my post above - you're correct - in reviewing my photos and stopping to look again - lines are VERTICAL only - in my haste I messed up. Good catch & apologies for any confusion I may have caused
