Default Windshield replacement

I'm wondering if anyone has replaced their windshield. I have a 2020 P400HSE and recently picked up a large ding with 7.5" crack that extends to the edge of the windshield, so am looking to replace. Of course, my insurer (Allstate) wants to install an aftermarket one rather than OEM. I'm wondering if anyone has replaced theirs, and especially interested in any installer experience in the Seattle area.

I’m in the process now. However, same insurer said that they would only go eom because there weren’t any viable aftermarket options.

I’m currently on a 6-8 week wait for the replacement, as it seems no one can get them either way.

I’m down in Tacoma. Replaced mine at Genuine Auto Glass a year ago. Not sure if they have anything further north. They are the shop that LR Tacoma outsources their glass work to. Mine had the heating element and was replaced with OEM. All went fine and I got glass within two weeks. But not sure what the supply chain looks like now.

Good to hear that it all went well. Land Rover dealer here recommended West Coast Auto Glass in Lynnwood.

Yep

Seattle area

Mine broke after a couple of months. Spontaneous crack from lower midline. No impact. Irreparable.

Safelite in Bellevue did the swap after about an 8 week wait. The first one they got was cracked on delivery.

No calibration needed.

OEM part installed. No other option available.

Given the crappy quality of the OEM I'd have preferred a non-OEM. So far so good. Have had another chip repaired. Just a normal impact chip. Not like the gunshot like spontaneous crack on the factory windshield.

I suspect they are being installed under stress. Two other people I know here in Kirkland with Defenders have had theirs break in the same spot shortly after purchase like me. Crack from the edge without evidence of impact There are some class action suits in the works. I was only out $50 deductible so all is well.

When it breaks again (and I have little doubt it will) I'll do the same. Geico is my insurance.
