Here is a close up of a picture the day we bought the Defender:

I also have the pictures from our TReK in action and it looks like its in the same postion before it was sold off the showroom

You can see the blade end is tucked under the A-pillar...

Perhaps the wiper arms differ slightly. They were removed and repositioned switching left for right. Just a thought. I just learned yesterday that wiper arm pullers are a thing when trying (aborted effort) to remove the front cowl.

My wipers are due a replacement again. Time to shell out the big bucks.
$6 for new wipers $6 for new wipers

I will see if the arms are different lengths.

Actually it’s your post that got me down this path. I was looking to do the refill method but I thought I should get the length issue sorted out.

Defender has specific wiper arms compared to the other D7 platform vehicles. The ones on your Defender are correct. I think they may have been removed and just not put back on at the right angle.

Cincy I believe you are correct. I have a sneaking suspension that the arm was set wrong in the past and the splines in the arm are damaged. I took a stab at re-clocking and it’s not hitting the A-pillar trim but a little higher than I would like. The splines are damaged and it can only be either too low or a bit too high.

Are the left and right arms exactly the same length/part number?

No, from what I have researched:
Wiper Arm LR161914 Positions: Right
Wiper Arm LR161910 Positions: Left

Now I am second guessing myself, now knowing that the arms are definitely different from each other. I will have to tear it down a bit furtehr to look at the cast markings to determine which is which. I see a set on Ebay for sale and they paint marked which is which. Looks like "E1" is Right and "E2" is Left (if the person who removed the arms labeled them correctly...)
