Beer, pizza, and head gaskets! I would have driven over for that. Lol. I just returned from Europe and @ now stationed @ Ft Riley, KS. Can use the opportunity to make new friends and learn as well. Chuck.

Let me know in advance the date(s) your going to be doing that, and I'll see if I can arrange to get over to assist/learn. Beer will be on me! Question: would you mind putting together a detailed list of everything needed to do a complete gasket job on my D1?

It's good to hear from more people in the KC area. I have been trying to get some Rover owners together to do some off roading, but in end up being the only Rover showing up :-(. I usually post events and get togethers on the KC Land Rover Club page.https://www.facebook.com/LandRoverKC

I don't know what is specifically different Between the d1 and d2. You also have to decide if your going to rebuild the heads or have them done. You have to have a machine shop plane them, but you can lap the valves. it's like 10 bucks for everything you need to do a valve job.. otherwise basic hand tools. torque wrench. I would recommend buying the head gasket Mr from AB. But I think the silver Valley pan might be better. but I'm happy with the black one that I used. I personally had my heads planed and lapped then and replaced the seals my self it only took about an hour per head. Also brake cleaner, Eagle one aluminum cleaner, citrus strip and paint thinner make the cleaning process much faster

I am a new member and a new owner of a disco 1 and just found this thread. I live in Olathe an work as a mechanic in Desoto. Once I have my disco on the road I wouldn't mind hitting a few trails with you guys. My boss an the owner of the shop is also a huge LR nut and the owner of a disco 1 as well.
