Day 4 ends - we hit are planned gas stop and my disco was very low, it appears I got some dodgy gas on day 1.
Taseko River
A very tiny store and gas station "Xeni Gwet'in Gas Station" in the Xeni Gwet'in caretaker area near Chilko Lake. 80 Liters in the tank plus 40 liters at $1.69 a liter $203.00 CDN or about 152.00 US In Vancouver gas was .62 a liter more it would have really hurt
Chilko Lake Pretty nice spot to pitch camp There was a lot of bear activity on the beach below during the night steelhead had spawned and died so lots of dead fished washed up. Me I slept through things, others not so much
Day 5 was another easy day as we travelled from Chilko lake to Miner lake to setup for day 6 and the climb to Perkins peak. There was some hiway driving as FSR's do not cover all the route we needed to take.
Crazy little general store, pretty sure everything in there has been there for decades, including the staff
Day 6 this was probably the coolest day of the trip, we traveled from Miner lake at 4185 ft to Perkins Peak at 7800 ft. From Perkins peak we traveled east to Puntzi Lake this was day that was about 50% Hiway do the oddies of the resource roads in the area. More about Puntzi Lake in part 2 of Day 6
Miner Lake from the campsite High Alpine trees start getting short Then there are are no trees, it is very sudden. Heading down after the ascent not a lot of spare room 1st truck heading up only 4 of us made the final bit of road up, there was no room for any more.
