Nice mixture of rovers. That white Dl is rocking some pretty mild tires...but...it's at camp. Man, you guys and gals are living the dream...that's some breathtaking scenery. Those defender folks wouldn't let you hang with them, darn defender folks anyway...lol.
Those hard shell tents look intriguing, but they just take up to much rack space.

@The Deputy Yea that was pretty funny, all the Defenders and the Isuzu on one side and the Disco and LR's on the other.

Day 2 started with some light but consistent rain at around 5:30 tapering to light showers an drizzle by 7:00, After setting and having a solid breakfast of farmers sausage and eggs, I left my tent and awning to "dry" in the light breeze before breakdown. The white D1 had to leave, but they assured us they would be out again as they had a very good time and learned a lot about the capabilities of a stock Disco on all season tires.
The 1st part of the route was the reverse of the 1st day, but no one made up the steep downhill short cut too wet and muddy and slimy. As I waited on on a corner for the folks to back down and rejoin the the group I notice that the rains was getting "thick" some light wet snow was coming down.
A couple of pictures from where I stopped to mark the left turn, typical wet gray Pacific Northwest Day any time of year
As we continued things got more and more interesting, and the snow got serious about coming down
We got further along and stopped for a brief bio break and leg stretch while out group leader Andy checked the route up, the snow was wet with packed snow and some left over ice under it. He decided as the snow was still quite deep in places that trying an alternate route was for the best, this turned out to be a good decision.
Back tracking lead to a long steep uphill of about 1 km, One Defender fellow stopped to take a picture not realizing how slick the underlying road was, he got to back up a couple of hundred meters to try again. We were well spread out as we wanted everyone to get up without losing forward momentum. The snow really started coming down as we started the hill.
Only 1 picture so far, the Isuzu pickup starting his run, the hill in front is what we need to go up and it was a significant long grade
I made my run in low range, CDL locked, 2nd gear at about 3000 to 3200 rpm for the 1st stage, the steepest section, then a calmer 2000-2500 for the rest
And few from the top while they waited for everyone else

@The Deputy It is not unusual, it largely depends on the kind of spring we have, this year has been cool and wet so snow up higher. Several of the passes I travel north and west of Whistler have snow patches into late July, but they are higher. Last year it was 24C in that area around that time.
Some pretty serious flood concerns along the Fraser River due to late snow melt and pretty much constant rain.
