This run is a Go with 2 trucks committed. Meet time at 8:30, leaving the ranger station by 9:30.

 

Thought I'd update this post with a few thoughts on the run itself. I started as planned at the San Gabriel River Ranger outpost in case somebody would show up that was too shy to post earlier. I missed the detail that this office is closed on weekends and permits are issued at the San Gabriel OHV trailhead instead. There, I also found out that the Rincon-Shortcut is closed for a while now so the only place to play was there which I think is an actual river bed for the dam that dries up a bit to provide sand, mud and water pits for obstacles. An out-and-back type overland with a few spurs here and there to test your skills and truck a bit if you so choose. We did them all, just enough to make the day interesting. We saw a couple of recoveries, a Jeep and a Chevy that got body deep in mud (at the same place?).

All in all, it was a good day with good company.

I just came across the thread for the get together and was bummed out that I missed out. I just purchased my third Range Rover (1997 4.0) (I know...I didn't learn my lesson from the first two, but I just love these damn cars!!!) and was in the process of swapping out my air suspension for coils on the day of the get together.

Would totally enjoy a day off - roading with fellow RR enthusiasts.

Will keep an eye out for any updates for the next get together.
