I know! At most it'd be about a mile hike to get back to the main road that's heavy with traffic but again, it was a state park road so I was expecting it to be managed. Anyway, I went back today to get that picture of the sign. It's called Point Washington State Park. While I was at it, I found miles and MILES of more trails on the south side of highway 98! It's crazy? These are all "public entrances" to this state park. Again, turns into mud and is deff not for road cars!! Here's some pictures of the North entrance and then the gravel road that leads into the south side:

Very cool. I'll have to check it out next time I'm in town.

I'm amazed how deep the sand is on those roads. I bet a lot of tourists underestimate the softness of the sand and get stuck.

North entrance that connects to long utility line service roads (best): https://maps.google.com/maps?q=desti...&cbp=12,0,,0,0

South Entrance with miles of muddy, sandy, easy going trials: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=desti...,,0,-1.77&z=19

Thaks for the maps. That will be a nice diversion from family next time I'm home.

Reminds me of the Pine Barrens in New Jersey.
