Default Disco II leather seat conditioning?

I sourced some leather seats for my Disco II (2 front and the back seats) They are in good shape cosmetically (no cracking or worn leather). They are in the boneyard and it appears that they have been sitting there for awhile. They are dirty/dusty and have had rain on them. I'm not sure how long they have been sitting out there in the vehicle. But they look like they can be cleaned.

My question: Can I take these seats to an auto detailing shop and have them cleaned, or can I clean them myself? If I can do it myself what do I need to do and how do I go about it?

IMHO you would do well to look at products from member georgep, Home Page | Leatherique Restoration Products .

Sure but why not do them your self?
Buy a bottle of saddle soap and wash the leather real well, let sit over night then apply some Lexol to the leather, let it sit for a day and your leather will be in great shape.
Don't use any of the store bought seat treatments, they are junk.
Also, do all your seats once a year to maintain there good condition.

I would use a wet cloth, hosing them down will ruin the seat heater and the foam cushions will soak up that excess what like a sponge and take weeks to dry out.

FWIW, the people on several Mercedes forums I visit rave about the Leatherique, I've been meaning to get some to use on both my GF's MB and my Disco.

I also use Lexol on my plastic/vinyl surfaces and it is great, so I am sure their leather treatment is good too.

Either one would do great, and be better than just using water - one other tip that I've noticed (and I think they say this on the leatherique site) is that the hotter it is outside, the better for any quality leather treatment - put it on, roll up the windows and let it bake in the sun to open the pores of the leather and let the moisturizing ingredients penetrate the fabric.

Sorry to say, but the Leatherique web site is the worst I've ever seen, almost to the point of being unusable. Errors everywhere, pages not available.

Look like wonderful products. A real shame that frustration with the site will drive people away.

The product is good quality and been around for a while. Why don't you drop a pm to member georgep, who owns that, plus a barn full of vehicles from Rolls to Rovers?
