Not having SAI was one of biggest pulls I had for getting the Disco I bought. I was afraid California's emissions laws might be a problem but they were not.

 

Still waiting for the new bumper so I thought I'd do coils and wires. Nothing that hasn't been discussed in depth here, but the coil packs locations are a bit tricky. Also, those little threaded rods with nuts to hold the SAI onto the manifold came out easily, but why Land Rover didn't use bolts was beyond me... The upper and lower intake manifolds were pretty clean! This truck keeps surprising me with how well it seems to have been cared for over the years. I also cracked that stupid windshield cowl even more by touching it too hard (it's like a giant egg shell at this point).



Got everything back together and it was idling rough with P0308. Thankfully the #8 wire is on the top row of the coil packs, it had come loose when I was buttoning the thing back up. I attached it without pulling the plenum back off and it was surprisingly tough! A bunch of you guys must either have small hands or just be more dexterous than me if you're doing all eight wires like that.

Here's a picture of the pretty blue wires because they were expensive and nobody else appreciates them. (And you can barely see them even if you know they're there).

 

The driver mirror had been floppy since I got the truck, but it had loosened to the point it was almost worthless. I found one at the U pull it yard, a little bit UV damaged and I had to clean a hornet nest out from behind the glass, but new ones are $300 and this was $26. And it's always fun finding treasures at the U pull it.

 

You got a better deal than me, I had to pay $40 for mine.

 

Haha but did yours come with a free hornet nest?

 

Fender flares were looking ratty so I sanded and sprayed them (only the passenger side so far). It took longer than I was expecting to get rid of the old paint/UV damaged plastic, but I'm happy with the results. I used Rustoleum Universal Satin Black, I'll let you guys know how it holds up.

 

Costco is buying the bumper, yes? I’d also make them pay to have it installed just like a full on accident- regardless if you know how to do it. That’s just because it will confirm if the frame rails are bent.

 

Yeah, they're paying for the bumper and installation and a rental whenever it goes into the shop. The bumper was super easy to put on the first time but the headlights are ever so slightly out of alignment now so I'm taking it into GBR to have them put the new one on (if it ever shows up) and look over the front end. Side note, Bill seems like a really nice dude (I think you commented when you lived in SLC you were a regular at GBR).

 

Finally! After two and a half months we're back together. Bill recommended powder coating the bumper, I know that's not super popular due to the challenges touching it up if it chips but he said he had a shop he really liked and since GBR has a good reputation (and I had insurance money to play with) I gave it a go. It looks great, I'll keep everyone updated on how it ages. Now I just have to deal with the three amigos that came back last week...
