I was able to get some work done last night on this. Picked up an 1/8" drill bit, drill 1 hole at 6 o'clock, and installed the new stat. Then something strange happened, the Rover didn't overheat.
I let it run for about 20 minutes while I checked temps all around with the IR scanner, and everything seemed fine. The hottest temp I saw on the computer was 206, and within 30-45 seconds after seeing that the temp dropped to 186. This was the norm for just about the entire time. The recent issue with the inline stat was all because of not drilling an 1/8" hole at 6 o'clock.
For now everything looks to be in good shape. Thank you to everyone who's help me out on this very long process.
Things have been going relatively smooth since the temp issue was resolved.
I had an issue with the rear caliper dragging on the passenger side, and that cause the Rover to not exceed the speed of about 5 mph. Which eventually cause the ABS light to turn on, and the traction control to engage. I replace both calipers, and that seemed to fix the issue. I still have an issue with the ABS light coming on, and have code P1590 to deal with, but it still drives just fine.
The next issue that I'm taking on are the possessed sunroofs. Both of them open on there own from time to time when the ignition is turned on. I have a feeling that the front sunroof might be the issue since I can see some water stains on the top of the headliner. I did verify that the drain tubes are clear, and draining. With the headliner down I'm going to pull the sunroof, and reseal it with some fresh silicone. I also have a new to me sunroof ecu, and front switches coming to replace the ones that I currently have. In addition to that I also picked up some new drains to install since I know mine are going to break. I don't want to pull the headline out again so I'm going to fix what I can now.
Pictures will be posted of the progress once parts show up.
I just came across this thread and website while searching google for pictures of the RotoPax mounted to the rear ladder on a Discovery and ended up reading through the whole thing...I'm sure I've come across this website before, along with many other Land Rover sites, but never bothered to join any of them until now(I belong to many of the facebook groups) and I've thoroughly enjoyed reading about this D2 build and look forward to following your progress with it in the future!! I've attached a pic of my 01 D2.
I'm sorry to see you go, always enjoyed your build thread. That's a steal price on that rover, considering your investment. I know it's hard to recoup everything, when building/maintaining a rover...but the engine, bumper, rack and other goodies are worth that, in my opinion.

Good luck with sale.
Yeah, I feel $6000 is a good price. I'm sure there's more than $6000 that can be removed from the Rover considering what's been put into it.
