The fleet
Time to take it for a road trip test
As promised, a few pics of the new toy. Going to give it some road miles today and see how it does (and yes, it just started raining)
First pic shows my 97 in front, and the 99 behind it. 97 has just shy of 200K and lots of rust underneath. Hard to justify more work with all that rust adding problems.

Big step backwards. After the successful drive to and from work, the following morning it wouldn't start, and the alarm has armed itself. So far no luck in disarming it. Pulled the fuse for the horn to keep it quiet, won't turn over and when I bypassed the immobilizer, it would turn over but not fire. today, it won't turn over again and still won't do anything. Gonna try playing with the blue/white wire from the drivers door lock, but I am thinking the security ECU is messed up.. central locking has never worked, and using the door key to reset alarm doesn't work.
Open to suggestions, probably have to pull it off the street and into the yard until I get it figured out. Get out the tow strap........

replacement security box (green case) showed up today. re-attached black/org wires and motor cranks on it's own with no alarm (or red LED) so that is a plus!!
Still won't start. Has fuel at the rail and I can hear the pump running. No error codes from The OBDII
Looks to have newer plug wires on it

YeeHaw!!! got the replacement computer yesterday and installed it this morning... And it fired right up!!!! I can only assume the alarm system messed up the computer, or the computer messed up the alarm.. either way, they are both replaced so life is good!!
I was even able to enter the radio code and it worked too! Hopefully this will turn the corner for this rescue!

had problems getting it started and found a poor connection on the immobilizer wires from the alarm ECU. took them all apart and soldered them correctly with heat shrink over the connections. Then got side tracked putting together a trampoline for the Grandson. Maybe tomorrow the center console will come apart for the new shift indicator.

Got that fixed up and replaced the shifter indicator mechanism which was torn apart, and figured out why. With the truck in park, you can't remove the key. Truck is in park and holding, yet I am able to start the truck, so the neutral safety switch works... Back to wanting to replace the ignition switch as it still needs some serious jiggling to get it to turn sometimes. Thinking I will go with the manual trans switch and eliminate the problem. Unless someone has an idea how to remove the solenoid that locks the key in when vehicle is in gear...maybe a wire to cut...
Someone did some serious damage removing various parts as lots of plastic mountings are broken. Still, runs nice and looks good.
Tried disconnecting fuse and no change so I believe it is a problem with the lock tumbler which has been a problem since I got this thing.
