Catching up on my thread. It’s been a minute. Ended up doing the blackout on the hood of both my Rovers
Then I decided to try the plasti-dip and paint my wheels. I think it came out pretty good, Then I got a screw in my sidewall and the plasti-dip got screwed up when the tire shop replaced my wheel.
Found a deal on a frontrunner rack with an alu-cab awning I couldn’t pass up. I really wanted a pro-speed rack, but damn… shipping and the wait time.. I’m happy with where-she’s at now.
I cracked my rear sunroof glass trying to install the rack by myself . It doesn’t leak, so I’m gonna leave it for now and decide how I want to tackle that. Either get it replaced or replace it with a sheet of 3/16” aluminum and call it a day. Has anybody replaced that big glass with aluminum?
Been holding off on trying to fit a phone mount until I found something I liked. Found the "QuadLock" attachment that uses the RAM Mount. Have to buy their case to work with it. I like it! Check them out. Couldn't take a picture with the phone mounted....
Any updates? I really like the lr3. I think it's on my short list for prospective project vehicles one day. Your lr3 is a exactly the look I would be after. I'm seeing a time in about 10 years when my oldest is going to be wanting my discovery 2 if I still have it.
Might be a good time in the next 2-3 years for me to squirrel away a decent lr3 or lr2 with some issues for later building.
Been a solid ride. I did have to replace my front drivers side wheel hub and the boots on that cv shaft. Took it out with the family 4 wheeling, did great, but noticed I had a noise from the front wheel sounded like the brake disk was rubbing the dust shield.
that screw was actually loose, so I replaced both rotors and pads buttoned everything up and still had the noise, uh oh. Jacked it back up and wiggled the wheel, damn… wheel hub. Ordered a Timken wheel hub and some new cv boots. Wasn’t too hard of a job.
Everything is running great. It’s been down for a month. Can’t believe how much we missed driving the LR3. I’m gonna have to get the roof glass replaced I think. I’m sitting at 247k miles now and she’s still as strong as ever. No lights. I’ll be taking her from Atlanta to Colorado next year to go hunting.
