Default 4.6 engine build

i guess i can put an engine build in this section....
i wanted to have a thread as kind of a follow along. maybe some of you will catch my mishaps or shortcomings and let me know. answer a couple of goofy questions here and there (reason i started this thread early). plus, I hope it will give some good pictures to use as reference.

that being said, it will be a bit of a slow start. I bought engine from Abran and he was gracious enough to sell me his legwork and machine shop connections, on his side. awesome. and a world of thanks to him.(my usual shop was not willing to tophat, and just wanted to do standard headwork and valve job.) I think my lump will be headed my way sometime this month. maybe

this will be a complete engine and ancillaries. my current engine is going in my next build project. gotta get my d2 going like it should first. (or like i think it should)

so far just a lot of part gathering, cleaning, and polishing

used grill oven cleaner to get of the thick gunk. elbow grease and a little $30 hf long shaft die grinder for the rest. yes i am painting everything white. not because i am fancy, but because i want to search and repair any leaks, before my engine becomes a big gooey mess. a case of vht white engine enamel.

so the first real thing that i got to do was build the rocker shaft assembly.
i got some yella terra roller rockers from v8tuner. assembly was simple and straight forward. I got new shafts, springs and used pedestals. (currently making aluminum shims)
these rocker arms are designed to produce less friction and wear. they come with their own washer/shims that flank each arm. this is to achieve better alignment with valves and push rods. 1 on spring side, 2 on pedestal side.

the donor shafts that came with my pedestals, show why you don't reuse old shaft and components. pedestals were the only thing i was willing to use. i had to hand polish and true them up (they tend to slightly deform, a bit... i assume from use and clamping pressure). easiest way i could find was to turn barrel sanding rounds inside them worked great. I used the old shafts as a guide to make sure that they slid on perfectly, so that i did not scrape up my new ones.

newly purchased injectors arrived, so I stuck those in the rail. I will clean up the old ones and re seal them for spares. from my research fiveomotorsports is the only place that will customize injectors for these. you can get up to 33#...

You said you are making shims. Will you need shims for these rockers? Aren't they adjustable?
