Well Dusty1 the master tech came by to inspect my f up and we really didn't see a whole lot of hey this is why it happened but we did see a few odd things.

The block was not as clean when we removed the HG, i thoroughly cleaned it but there was gunk in a few places

there was an arp stud that was not set all the way down so the nut was torqued to the stud and it was being threaded to the block

a Hg corner looked to be bent.

Hopefully after Dusty1 worked his magic i will be good to go and register for scarr, if not then well something is wrong with my block as a straight edge was used on the block/head/intake and it seemed fine.

can someone loan me $.78? i made a bad bet.
so we have a head problem. a bolt/stud problem. or a block problem.......

we straight edge flashlighted both the head and block before reinstall......no signs of warp.... only problem found was a stud that was not threaded down far enough. this was causing the nut to torque as it plowed new threads on the shaft of the stud.....not clamping...

so my suggestion is to check out that head. either swap heads or take it somewhere..
anyone have a better idea?

Scum bag rover decided to take it easy on me, added an arp washer to the ends of the block and torqued back to 80, the heads are barely weeping now and held 18 psi about 20 mins before it started to drop pressure. adding more washers tomorrow and maybe even firing it up!

Default too late but

Next time try to chase the threads and blow out any debris in the head stud hole. I've snapped a hardened ARP stud before while installing on a different vehicle. Lucky I was able to extract it and chase the threads. But congrats on getting her back together!

Yikes!! I've also see tips of head studs snapped clean and it make it look like the stud was fully removed except for the small piece. Glad you guys found a solution though.
