Disco 1 tdi,
Here’s a brief rundown of my tdi “daisy” and what she’s had done since I picked her up in September 2008.
Started off a completely standard 96 disco, And I got her for £500 with 87k miles on the clock. Needed what I was told an engine. It had hydraulic-ed itself after a bad head gasket failure.
A little digging and the hydraulic failure actually turned out to be just a flat battery not allowing the engine to turn. Although it still needed a head gasket.
Once that hat was done I slowly turned it into a machine for mud plugging. Started with a small 2” lift. Bumper and winch.
Then i I went for bigger Tyres, snorkle, light bars, radios. Bigger Tyres again. More lift and again bigger Tyres, Then a body lift, different rims and spacers.
It stayed like that for for a while and then I put wider arches as the 35s had destroyed the arch edges. Again it stayed for a few more years. A clutch and a few WB later I decided it was actually still to nice to destroy on pay and play days.
So I turned it into a camper, with a goal of going to Morocco for a few weeks.
Ripped the interior out and started building storage etc all from wood. It all went in lovely with water pump, tanks, filters, fridges, lights etc.
thats when we we decided to go all the way to SA and had one of the best years ever currently travelled through I think 28? Countries with it.
It’s now changed a little with gullwings and full on drawer systems etc and is even more comfortable/easy to live out of. I’ll let some pics do the talking.
Edit. Cant upload pics just let but I’ll try again just now!
