Me to lets hope it keeps going somewhat smoothly. The mechanical side I think is going to present some challenges. We shall see though.
Today's update was we actually got some time to work on it. That stupid headliner is finally out! There was much celebrating
From there we removed a couple more pillar trims and got started on the console. It is absolutely amazing how few tools you need to get this deep into the interior of a LR3.
Need to figure out how to pop this connector loose on the shifter and don't want to break anything in there.

So for those playing along at home it has a little lever lock on that connector that swings down and pushes the connector free. Oonce that was loose the console popped right out. A learning point here is you don't have to really disassemble the console that much to get it out. Lid can stay on. There is two torx bolts on the sides near the back under little vented covers. Two bolts under the front area in the area below the ashtray. Yout have to pop the gray surrounds in the shifter cup holder area and that is pretty much it except for a lot of wiring.
Once that was free the back carpet came right out, in all it's disgusting glory. It was still wet underneath which shocked the heck out of me. Slid a hand under the front half and it was soaked to.
Haven't quite figured out how the lower center dash comes out so we can get the front carpet free. Maybe tomorrow... After I clean that funky carpet to see if it can be saved

I've cleaned carpet that looked almost as bad. I used some vehicle carpet cleaner and a power washer. I didn't hold the nozzle right on the carpet but that combined with the cleaner = 90% of the crap just flew off. The water going into the drain was GROSS!!
I love seeing these things stripped down to see all whats underneath. Now would be the time to throw in some sound proofing mat in different areas. Would it be possible at all to ditch the carpet and spray down a rubber bed liner type coating for super easy clean up? Curious question.
There is a lot of wiring underneath. I knew there would be but it is amazing how much is running everywhere in this truck. There is a wiring harness built into the headliner lol
Possible to pull all the carpets and run that way? Yes, would I ever do that again no. My Hunter was stripped and Rhino-lined inside and the heat and noise was horrific. You could slow cook a Christmas ham in the foot well in the summer. Now if there was a rubber floor option like a F250/350 work truck that would be something to consider.
I'm back and forth on adding additional sound like dynamat or doing a bed-liner of some type before the carpet goes back in, for a little extra noise control but can't decide. I think once I see what is under the front carpets I'll make the call on where to head with the sound deadner. I can certainly see the possible benefit considering the tires I run. Also I might add a bit to the pillars and few steel sections of roof as well to maybe assist with wind noise. Just don't know if the outcome will make the extra cost and time worth the effort.
Believe it or not Brian I use basically the same to insulate automatic water control valves in our waste water fields. Dog house, heat tape and foil covered bubble wrap, mice won't chew it up. Never froze a line or valve yet and they've seen -15*F. https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail...-Roll-48-x-125
Thanks Brian I'll check that out. The roof will get very little as it is panoramic glass so 3/4 of it is not really able to be insulated. Thinking more floor and pillars.
The LED interior light kit showed up today so we swapped all the bulbs out really quick and dug into the dash some more in hopes of getting the front carpet out for cleaning.

Dash came apart and after some cussing on the wiring and disconnecting the AC Drains the carpet is finally out of it.
It was still wet, and there was a pint of water in the floor heat vents. It is absolutely amazing how long it held water, even with shop vac, fans, and a dehumidifier running for 2 weeks.
We can finish up pulling 2 more pillar trims and we will be refinishing them. Headliner will be taken over to a local shop for a quote on redoing it and the sun visors. Depending on cost and turnaround time I may end up doing it myself. With a kit from Headliner express. They used to frequent the forums years back and it looks like they haven't forgotten land rover owners.
Got it home gave it a scrub with car wash and a pressure wash rinse than laid it out to dry. Tomorrow I'll pick up some carpet cleaner and give it another scrub.
Lucky for me my daughter is very understanding about me using her truck bed as a clothes line
