My front main seal has started leaking, what’s the deal on sleeping the crank pulley? Could I just try to polish it and try a new seal?

Remove harmonic balancer, look closely at the depth of the seal in front cover. Sometimes it possible to install the seal a little deeper or not as far, to avoid seal working the same area. As long as the harmonic balancer is not grooved heavily, feeling them with your finger nail, you should be able to clean it up with crocus cloth. Seal gets old and brittle, causing it not to grasp balancer well...new one will make all the difference in the world. Did on the three Dll's l've done...not a drop.

When I rebuilt the motor I did install a new one onto the front cover while it was off, I just pushed it to the back, the pulley definitely had shiny spots where it spun against the old seal, I didn’t think was that bad, I’ll have to pull it out and check it again. What’s the best way to pull old seal? Screw into it and yank? Or dig it out?

Just dig it out carefully, since the surface it rides against is out of the way (harmonic balancer).

Odd that a new seal would leak this quickly, check for damage on seal bore in housing, maybe add a little sealant if need be.

I just binged this entire build. Love it. That's my favorite color Discovery.

Condition of my headers after there first winter

Found my slow coolant leak. That was a brand new britpart hose assembly I used when I installed the motor last summer.

I guess for using a spray can paint there not horrible considering how much salt hey use on the roads around here
We had a nice day out yesterday here, snow is melting, so I checked Under the hood to plan some upcoming maintenance. Have both coils, new plugs and wires, upper intake gasket, and front main seal on there way. Will probably do the thermostat mod as well.

I haven’t updated in a while but the new tuneup has been great, my mileage is way way better. Up from 10.8 to 12.9 mpg. I just pulled my winch and went through it a bit today, the compressor on it has refused to engage. I’ll spend more time on when the weather gets a little better.

Finally changed the front main seal. While I was in there I noticed a power steering hose seeping. Ordering more parts. Lol. Never ends

New steering lines put in today, thinking I may have to order a new pump now. Lol. It was so messy I couldn’t tell if it was the pump or the hose. This was a used pump I put in last year or maybe 2 ago.
