Took project money pit out to my local OHV park to test the tire clearance and ensure all the lockers etc are functioning properly. The 35s cleared the rear fenders fine, but the front fenders needed additional trimming in the portions closest to the rock sliders as you can hear in the videos below. Luckily I brought my trusty angle grinder and was able to trim the front fenders so the only interference was with the fender liners which were not secured in some spots. I'm planning on using my heat gun to try to mold the fender liners to give the clearance needed while the front tires are stuffed in the fenders.
My overall impression of the D2 is it is quite capable. I found with just the traction control itself the D2 was able to handle any of the obstacles I attempted. I ended up going through obstacles multiple times to see how the truck behaved with CDL and traction control with front and rear lockers unlocked 2) CDL and rear locker engaged, and traction control and 3) CDL and front and rear lockers engaged.
Now that I've confirmed that project D2 is running well, I'll be heading out to some trails in Northern California. First up is Strawberry Pass in a few weeks. Stay tuned.
Very very nice looking truck. I get a kick out of a lot of choices you made, from the color to the particular parts chosen; you’ve done everything I’ve done on my truck in 5 months that I’ve done over the course of 5 years.
I had to break everything I replaced..

thanks man! I appreciate the feedback. My wife gave me the blessing to go full steam ahead on the build since she and the kiddos plan to ride in it on family trips. Since that cleared the biggest hurdle I was able to get it done fast lol
Took my D2 out for some rock crawling practice. First time doing this type of driving and it was so much fun. As you can hear in the video below, the Tactical Rovers diff guards did their job and protected the diffs. I did happen to slightly bend my RTE HD SS track rod which is a bummer, but otherwise the D2 did awesome.
Is the rear tank skid made with that bumper? It looks like the tow hitch mounting is all exterior mounted to that jazz ? Does it drop it lower then it would be stock?

what gear are you in?
the rear tank skid is separate from the bumper and sits between the tank and the tow hitch. The tank skid uses the factory tow hitch mounting points to mount to the truck. Since the rear tank skid is between the tank and tow hitch and it is thicker than the stock skid, it sits a marginal amount lower than stock.
Family time with project $$$ pit. Spent a weekend at Bowman Lake with family and friends. Was great to disconnect for a few days and see the kids play without an ipad
