LOL......I had to replace that hole wheel well with 4" of new steel.
I had all that wheel well stuff off and die-electriced all the connections that I could get my grubby hands on......Can't wait to do the driver's side!!!!!!!
Ya, helluva design.......I hope these people weren't allowed to breed.

Yet another ticking time bomb of a design........
IF you need to buy an ECM contact Will Tillery or just go to any bone yard cuz it's so well hidden nobody knows it's there and you'll get it for less than three digits. We'll cross that bridge when we get there........ yours runs. Usually when the covers are compromised and there's moisture damage the mighty 4.0 don't run or start.

I'll see if I can't take a closer look at it later today.
There's a number of them on ebay for 50 bucks.
I'm thinking I need to match up the numbers if I need one......Is it plug and play or more to it than that?
I may actually try to adjust the idle as well, just a touch.....I'm sure there's some wear there after 137k.....

Hold on a second...... If it's non-AEL you can use an AEL and the later the better because there had been updates to the proms. If you have an AEL you must stick with AEL. Round charcoal can is non-AEL, squarish on it's side is AEL. What happens when an AEL motor is started is the fuel tank vapors are purged, it's an embedded routine in the prom, it also uses the tank pressure sensor to vent back to the charcoal can. Non-AEL doesn't care, it MAY set a CEL but usually it doesn't, the purge routine gets nodded off without setting the Check Engine Light.
Where I'm going with this is the alarm box, the AS10 can make or break the change in ECM's. I've always paired the two from the same truck, my buddy on the other hand did not and it had no effect. To be safe I suggest pairing them. We had a long thread on another forum about this way back in the day.
We don't know for certain the ECM needs replacing so lets let this sit for awhile until the codes are purloined off the existing box. I've let Detour know what's what there and we'll see how it goes.
