Default 1990 Santana 2500DC Rear Diff

Hey everyone! Posting here in the Defender section as old defenders are very similar to the santana 2500DC (I know they're mechanically different, and more so as time goes on— but pretty similar!).

Picked up a beautiful santana recently— Unfortunately, the rear diff totally blew it, and looks like it's going to need to be fully replaced. I sourced a fair amount of the parts necessary to rebuild from Estanfi and Rec4x4, but I cannot seem to find the actual differential carrier, which needs to be replaced.

Anyone have any ideas on where to lock down one of these? Alternately, do you think a defender 90 rear differential would work or could be adapted? Any guidance much appreciated

The beast!

A lot of things were interchangeable I would bet that a 10 spline range Rover classic diff would be a straight swap. Count the splines on the axle of your Santana. I see the bearing cap there and it looks like match as well.

The question is what is the gear ratio on the Santana. Rover is 3.54 iirc

That would be amazing, and make me feel silly for having spent a bunch of money buying assorted parts from spain haha.

It's a 10 spline, so something like this might work? https://www.lrparts.net/ftc2750-fron...line-diff.html

The Santana is a 43:11 (this is the part, for reference: Diferencial (2,5DC 2500DC) - Recambios, accesorios 4x4 venta online) so that may not work. I can't seem to track down a 43:11 diff out there.

Thanks much, super helpful.

43:11 is also called a 3.90:1 or simply 3.90 gears. They're available for coilers... so, maybe it would work?

Or another method would be to replace both diffs if the 10 spline cooler diffs work. No re-gear would be needed.

Not sure where you are located but that price you linked is pretty insane for a used diff

Where are you located? You may get better info on santana facebook group...or local land rover group.
