Hi all, New Land Rover owner and I have a 1997 Land Rover Defender 300TDI. Its a 2 door and i cant get it to go into gear. The engine starts without the clutch being depressed, engine revs, seems to shift fine, no grinding, etc.

It attempted to go into gear once, then i stalled it....stupid.....Tried again, and it went into 1st, while shifting to 2nd, i stalled it again.... I said new right......I then realized the parking brake was on, turned it off, an current issue arose.....

I dont think the parking brake would stop me from shifting gears, If anything it should have over powered the parking brake.

Any help!!!

 

Could you do me a favor and read your post...and see if it makes any sense to you...because you say it shifts fine (first sentence)...then you say it won't (second sentence)...which is it?
