88 defender with a 2.5 tdi turbo, had a hard knocking and now won't turn over. I have not gone into the engine as of yet but I have a strong feeling that a rod gave way.

So i am looking for ideas on whether to rebuild this engine, replace this engine with another one just like it or go with 200 tdi. I want to stay Diesel.

any ideas where to find a 200 tdi and all the needed parts to do the change would be helpfull. How big a job is this? or is this a plug and play drop the engine in and go for a drive.

I would go with the 200 tdi and see about picking up a complete drop in package. Engine, trans, radiator ancillaries etc. Mounts should all be the same.

 

I need a trans to. the 200 won't bolt to a 2.5turbo

well that is going to cost more ain't it...lol

 

Land Rovers always cost more lol. I want to swap my manual out of the 110 and toss a zf trans behind the 3.9 but it will be a nightmare of money and parts
