Question Aftermarket vs LR part

Hi everyone! First post here so thanks for having me!

So I put a nice hole in the front wing of my 2007 Defender 110 (won't get into that embarrassing story).

The price difference between an aftermarket part and the LR part is massive (nearly 4X)

Here are the 2 parts I am looking at: Search results for: 'ASB710260' - Paddock Spares

I usually try to stick to genuine parts, but this is a fairly straightforward piece. I also live in Costa Rica and have to pay 50% import tax, so the price difference gets that much more exaggerated in the end.

I am just scared that the aftermarket part might be made of fairly "thin" aluminum. It's hard to get parts shipped here, so I want to buy the right one, but also don't want to pay 4X the price for nothing. As this is way out of my line of expertise, I'm hoping someone that actually knows what they are talking about could chime in.

Thanks in advance! Nic

lt depends on how good the rest of your Land Rover is.

lf it's well used and show signs of use, then the aftermarket wing will be fine. lt's not structural so as long as it fits and looks okay you'll be good to go.

However if your Land Rover is pristine and your pride and joy, then pay the extra and get the OE part, if it's available

The problem with a 'pattern' body part is it can often require a lot of rework to get it to fit correctly burning up labor charges - but if labor is cheap and as the above post said you don't have a pristine example although a '07 110 Defender is now commanding some pretty strong values.

IMO i would search out a good original part
