hey fellas!!! ive got a customer that has an 89 defender with the turbo diesel engine and it has a broken crank. after a month of searching for a crank he has decided that he wants to do an engine swap. he wants to go with a small block chevy 350 that is fuel injected. i know this is a long shot but does anyone out there make a kit for this? how much power will the stock trans hold? thanks!!! im also open to other engine swap suggestions!

 

Look at marks4x4 online. They have a kit for cast iron and ls engines.

 

People on defendersource pretty much just about give away the 12J engines. I think the 19J engines have the same crank. I'd search at that site for a cheap crank.

An easy upgrade would be a 200tdi, and it just bolts in for the most part. A lot of money though.

But an LS engine would be fun too. Just lots of money, too.
