Help?....first Defender (2010) off road mods???
Just got my new 110 County SW (its a UK supplied 2010 2.4). Looking for advice about off road upgrades. I live in Kenya and will be using the car for safari over some rough stuff, rocks, sand, mud etc.
I dont want to go mad and spend loads, and perhaps i dont need to do anything?
At the moment it has the stock steel wheels and tyres.
Things that seemed to make sense to me included:
- bigger wheels, tyres
- tree/rock sliders
- steering and diff guards
- snorkel
- winch
Dust is a real issue out here too....not sure how best to handle that.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
Many thanks

depends on how mechanical you are... Personally I would not go for bigger wheels and tyres as this will stress the drive train. All the other mods I would with the priority being on the snorkel. If you can get one with the mushroom pre filter on the top as this will help with the dust problems. Streeing gaurd and front diff gaurd would also be high on my list of things to get possibly either a strengthend rear track bar or a sleeved one. Having bent a numner of standard ones when off roading. If you dont get a front diff guard then weld a strengthend plate on the front crown wheel cover.
Strengthend front bumper with towing attachments is something i would do as well. Bull bars are great but if you hit something with them they have a tendency to come back into the wings. Look at getting brush gaurds for the wind screen, run a wire from the gutter to the top of the wings, cheap and easy to do and protects the wind screen.
Look at getting a 12v cooler or fridge, that way you will have a nice cool drink whilst you contemplate how to fix the 110 or get it unstuck. I would have a small cooker so that I could brew a nice cup of tea and contemplate but thats cause I am English...
