Default [HELP] Major Service

So I want to make sure I get the right things for my Rover. I have bought most of them. Here's the list, if I bought them or not, and my questions if I have any. Sorry if it sounds redundant I just can't find every single thread and post that talks about all of it but I have read them somewhere.

A) 1Qt. Oil filter (HAVE NOT BOUGHT)
B) 1 Air Filter (HAVE BOUGHT) [Spectre, very satisfied with increased MPG]
C) 6 Qts. of engine oil (HAVE NOT BOUGHT) [What kind? Fully Synthetic?]
D) 2 feet of 3/16th vacuum tube (HAVE BOUGHT)
E) 2 feet of 5/16th vacuum tube (HAVE BOUGHT)
F) 12 ts. of ATF (HAVE BOUGHT)
G) 7 Qts. of 80/90W synthetic gear oil, 85W/140 for HD use (HAVE NOT BOUGHT) [which is best? I heard 80/140w]
H) 3 Pints of synthetic DOT 4 Brake fluid (HAVE BOUGHT)
I) 2 Qts of synthetic Power steering fluid (HAVE NOT BOUGHT) [I heard PS J) fluid destroys the PS pump. What should I use instead?]
K) 2 Gallons of OAT, orange coolant, also called DexCool (HAVE BOUGHT)
L) 1 Bottle of Lucas Power Steering additive (HAVE NOT BOUGHT)
M) 1 Bottle of Lucas Transmission additive (HAVE NOT BOUGHT)
N) 1 Can of Spray Carb. Spray (HAVE BOUGHT)
O) 1 Can Of Brake cleaner (HAVE BOUGHT)
P) 8 Spark Plugs, I use Bosch Platinum Plus 4's (HAVE BOUGHT)
Q) 1 Set of Magnacor 8mm plug wires (HAVE BOUGHT)
R) 1 Serpentine belt (HAVE NOT BOUGHT) [What is this?]
S) 2 Bottles of SeaFoam gas additive (HAVE BOUGHT)
T) 1 T/Stat (HAVE NOT BOUGHT) [ WHERE DO I GET ONE?!?!?]
U) 1 bottle of WaterWetter or Purple Ice (HAVE BOUGHT)

A: alot of people use-mobile 1 filter, k&n, I use napa gold filter.
C: purely personal taste: synthetic blends are good, full syn better, I use shell rotella blend
F: was that 12 qts of atf? way much, even if changing the filter. almost enough for three drains and refills
G: yes, 85w140
I: Disco 1's use dex-3 atf( same as transmission)
K: some people like dex-cool, some slam people for using it, I would not touch it
L: if there is no prob with the PS system, dont worry about the lucas
M: the lucas trans additive is good stuff, made a noticible diff in my trans(smoothness)
N: assuming carb for the throttle body? yes
R: serpentine belt is the one and only belt on the front of the engine that runs everything
T: t-stat= autozone. Also ask for a felpro gasket #12994. It has an extra bolt hole in it, but fits and works perfect

That list is for D2's so there are a few differences in fluids.
If you want some help on it, send me your number and I'll call you.

C: I guess I can use MOBILE 1. I've used that in every car I've ever owned and it does the job.
F: I just did as the thread told me to haha. Idk..transmission fluid change, AND don't forget the power steering fluid uses it also (about 1/2 gallon bc it says buy 2 qts of it) By the way is Dex Merc the same as Dexron III? The sales guy at Auto Zone said it was.
K: I got the Auto Zone brand for Dex Cool. I haven't used it though, what's wrong with it?

Just for the note... I have NOT opened up anything so I can return it. I just bought all of it at once because I get points for buying things and the extra $40 comes in handy like in the past.

YOu may want to check my updated list for D1's.

https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...096#post213096

You can not mix dex and regular green antifreeze, and D1's have regular..
Dex/Merc is reverse compatible with Dexron III in most cases.
When you drain your tranny, alot is left in the torque converter, so draining anf filling a couple of times will get you mosre new fluid in.
Plug wires should be 8MM insulation, not the Bosch 7MM at your regular parts house. The Plat's +4 are Bosch platinum +4 plugs. More low end torque and a better burn, but you better have good wires or you are wasting your money. Stock plugs are fine.

Call Mike and have him walk you through some important orders. He is a wealth of knowledge and can talk you through stuff easier than posting on here..BUT... if you fix something, it is always nice to post the results so others can search..

If it says it can be mixed with any color or type antifreze, then it isn't dexcool, and is good to use. Prob the long life stuff? Dexcool, if not properly looked after, is corrosive(i.e.-head gaskets)

as far as coolant goes, I use either Honda Motorcycle Coolant, or Agip Long life Motorcycle coolant. Both are formulated for Aluminum engines and are non-corrosive. might be a little bit more money but, easier to use them than do a head gasket job.
