1313 & 1316 Redux
Hi Gang,
I seen a million or so posts (my wife says she's told me a 100,000,000 times not to exaggerate) on 1313 & 1316 codes but have never seen a resolution. I've got a '96 D1 with 161K miles and it's just not responding to anything. So far:
1) New 8mm wires
2) New plugs (first Bosch P4's then Champion 11YCs)
3) New O2 sensors (A side only)
4) Alternate coil packs
5) Top end tear down and clean
6) Bottom end tear down and clean out crap from top end clean
7) Lots of cussing and other colorful alliteration
The last thing I did, which was today, was the O2 sensors and after driving 12 miles and not getting a CEL I was sure I got it right--but then I took the wife for a ride and one mile in I got a 1316 and then a mile later a 1313.
I have not done a compression check; there's no antifreeze in the oil or stuff leaking out of the heads or oil in the antifreeze. I do have a tap that's pronounced on startup but quiets down quickly--it sounds like its on bank B. Oil pressure is fine; fuel pressure is fine; battery is fine; nothings leaking (a little frightening I know) and most everything else seems hunky dory.
Has anyone out there seen a post where the 1313 & 1316 problems are actually solved? I'm really interested if there's actually is solution. I've got a spare motor I can toss in, but if its something to do with engine support systems I guess that would be a wasted effort.
