Rover had a straight 6 2.6L gas motor in the Series II/III in the UK market until 1980...... more than likely that dizzy was built for a Jag 6 banger. Um diesels don't use a distributor, they have an injector pump. I cannot believe someone put that in a box but then again....

Okay back with my report. Just got done swapping out the 6 tooth reluctor with an old 8 tooth one. Buttoned everything and she fired right up. Purring like nothing ever happened.

Spark now confirmed on all cylinders. Re-timed as best as my capabilities allow. Sounds great. Going to take it for a Sunday evening ride in a few minutes.

Many thanks to all who helped me out on this one. Best4x4, ArmyRover, JohnZo, and ihscouts. Really appreciate the advice and emotional support lol.

Will be in touch with the supplier tomorrow and ask what their proposal might be to resolve this unfortunate error.

Best
Ryan

Probably they’ll send you just the correct reluctor ring. Pertronix is nice but pretty pricey. The other route is the GM HEI, big but less expensive to maintain and dead reliable.

No problem at all and glad she's up and running!
