I have lived in TX all my life and around LR's from the age of 13 to 48. The normal temp range will be 183-215F with the AC on during the summer. I don't care what you do to your LR! If you don't run the AC you can keep it close to 206F, but you go and sit in traffic, a drive thru, or a school pickup line and the temps are going to climb it's just the way it is. I have installed a switch on my 97 XD which will allow the AC Efan's to run without the AC on. It helps out a lot especially out on the trails. This years HCRR Event was cooler than normal, but Saturday it did start to heat back up into the 80's and I was seeing 200F out on the trail. Enabled my switch with the AC off and I was down to 183F pretty quickly. I'm at the point where I'd rather just pull over stop and browse in a store, get a drink, or a bite to eat and let the traffic die down vs torture my LR. Heck my friends came down over the weekend and were able to test drive a Grenadier, browse the lot, and talk to the staff and they only lost 10-15min of time overall due to the traffic being so bad.

No t-stat might be an okay solution to get you home, but the engine is designed to run at a certain temperature. Running it too cool is better than too hot, but not as good as running at the right temperature.
