Default 1996 Disco I cannot get shifter *** off!

Yes totally new to the Land Rover. Long but amazing story short the sun roof leaked and now there is water sitting under the PRND123 so I need to suck it out.

Everything is off except the *** on the shifter, there is no screw or anything like I have seen in some threads. It is a manual and it has the little button on the side to pull out of park. I turned it really hard and now it spins idk if it is threaded or I probably just broke it. I tried to tap it with a hammer, does the thing just not come off?

Remove rounded rectangle center cap on top of **** with small pry tool.

Remove clip at top of pin, remove plastic rocker, spring, side button.

Unscrew large nut, it's barely tight, I just use the nose of some needle nose pliers to spin it off.

Move your face to the side and pull up with great force... Did you hit your chin? Told you to move your face!

Also if your D1 has the weird little square clip holding everything together under the trim bezel you can replace it with a small c-clip if you accidentally bend it beyond repair.

There is an insert at the top, trust me. Pry it out/off and all will be revealed. Or post a pic, maybe someone installed an aftermarket Hurst shifter!

This dimpled piece pops up with a screwdriver or knife. All will be revealed then.
