Default 1996 Discovery 1 Power Steering not working

Spike

I'm new to the forum and need some advise.
Got a 1996 Discovery and my PS is not working.
Fluid is topped and no leaks.
However, I see a bit of fluid squirted from the top cap.
I read that you are not suppose to turn the wheels sharp to any side and keep it for 30 seconds. My son said he did it and right after that I noticed the squirt on the top cap and now the PS is not working.
Any advise?

Thanks

Neels

Sounds like a pump issue. You can drain the resevoir completly, leaving the hose full. Lift the front end, start the engine and turn from side to side. You should hear a gurgle/sucking sound. If not buy a new pump.
