Default 1996 Discovery 1 Rusted Floorboards

I have had a leak on both the driver and passenger sides of my 1996 Discovery 1 floorboards. I have never been able to determine exactly where the leak originates and now both floorboards are starting to have significant rust issues and need to be replaced.

First, has anyone experienced this problem? I don't have a sunroof so it is not the sunroof drains. Second, is there replacement floorboards that I can purchase and have a body shop install?

Thanks for any assistance provided.

Water is likely coming in from the windshield seals or holes in the floorboard. The windshield rubber gaskets are known to allow water in towards the top corners or towards the bottom area where they don’t seal 100%. Or you could have small holes in the floorboards where the rust is. Have you pulled the carpet up yet to see if the floor has rusted through in areas? Only fix for that is to cut out the rusted area and weld in new sheet metal. There are others here on the forum who have done that. Search the forum with key words and see what comes up.

Thank you for the info as I did have a new windshield installed and didn't think that they did a good job. Yes, the floorboards are completely rusted through on both sides and I was hoping that there was an aftermarket kit to replace them. I guess a body shop is my best option.

can also get water from dried up seam sealer on the inner wing where it meats the main body - the cowl below the windsheild drains right over the seam
I have re sealed mine few yrs back
Also if your AC drain is clogged - then its just leaking into the footwell -

also if you have that much rust - I would pull the rocker panel plastic off - B piller likes to rot out at the bottom and check under the carpets in the rear

Mine was caused from leaking brake lines right below the master cylinder.
